The Venue/Supercue

Recently a visiting pool team were told that there would be no refreshments available after the match due to some previous disagreement with the club. We would have gladly made a contribution towards the cost of refreshments via a football card but that wasn't available to us.
To make matters worse the smell of food being prepared was very evident and it transpired that refreshments were being prepared for what appeared to be a snooker match being played there the same evening.
I feel a situation like this is totally unacceptable we were made to feel like second class citizens, are pool teams not entitled to be treated equally?
If this is the best this club can do then perhaps it should close its doors once and for all as quite clearly it seems incapable of treating people equally and fairly.

I can understand why you were upset by this but did anyone actually speak to the club's staff about this?
It is not compulsory for clubs/pubs to put on food but has been accepted, over the years, that it is the done thing. By putting on food it does show a little bit of gratitude to the players for using that venue to play from.
However the league cannot force people to comply.

This dont sound right to me, how about a few more details...like, Who were the visiting team, who were they playing against, when was this meant to have happened exactly, like the date of the match, was it played on a normal night or was it a re arranged match, did the home team give you an explanation for why there was no food, did you ask even, what was the previous disagreement with the club about ?
You cant write posts like this without giving the full details.
The Bears were there on Sunday 24th Jan and were served a lovely curry !

Does it really matter who or when this happened? We all know the supplying of refreshments is not mandatory but perhaps if we visited the club to play a game against one of their teams and decided not to drink anything all night long I don't think the club would be too impresssed do you?
If you must know it was a wednesday night, doesn't matter who played there that night it's the fact food was being prepared and cooked under our noses only to be handed out to the snooker players. Like I said what's good for one is good for another in my mind either refreshments for all teams or no refreshments for anyone!
Keep it fair for all!

This is a waste of forum space, your moaning about something but giving no reasons or details, if you cant explain your griefs properly, then dont complain in the first place !!!

This is not a waste of forum space, the match was a scheduled league match and was not rearranged. I would have thought someone from the club might have made some comment, but it seems they're not interested just like they weren't interested in the food. The night in question was when Man U beat Man C in 2nd leg semi of Carling cup, satisfied now Gee? Date of match 27/01/2010!

All I know is ,that I was told by one of the home team players that there would be no refreshments as a result of some ' incident' ,'disagreement', or 'dispute' . I can't remember the exact word used, apparently something happened on a previous home game, sorry that's all I know!

It was myself working that night and for you to say that it is unacceptable for someone from the club to come on here and explain is unbelievable. I spoke to a member of your team, not sure if it was yourself or not because i dont know who you are, on the night in question. I am unaware of any disagreement that our home team has had with the venue, and will pass the message on to the manager to discuss with them. On a league night, our home team is asked to either sell a football card or to make a contribution towards the cost of food. On this night, i was informed by our home captain that they didnt require any food. I had some what prepared the food so in no way at all was the venue to blame for this. To say that you were treated a s a second class citizen is laughable to be honest. Whoever i spoke to on that night if it was or wasnt you should of made the situation clear to all your team members and there would of been no need for this forum at all.. Please get all the facts correct before starting a ridiculous forum like this.

The impression I got from a member of the home team ,was not that they didn't require food that night, however it is possible that some there was some misunderstanding between myself and the home team player. If this is the case that they requested no refreshments I guess that is there perogative. However I only made the point as it appeared at the time and would not deliberately cast aspertions I did not believe to be true.
If I have made a mistake I am sorry, my intention was not to make any form of false accusations against persons or organisations in relation to that particular night.
I merely made the point as I saw it at the time.
Again sorry.
